SENSORY MOTOR AROUSAL REGULATION TREATMENT (SMART)

Summary: The SMART program aims to: 1) conduct the first randomized-control trial targeting Canadian Armed Forces Veterans who have developed PTSD as the result of sexual misconduct; 2) determine whether participation in the SMART program is associated with better psychological and functional outcomes as compared to waitlist-controls, with a particular emphasis on addressing the effect of intervention on the well-being of the military members and their families. We also aim to examine the durability of these effects; 3) use neuroscientific evidence to evaluate whether participation in the SMART program is a suitable prognosticator for better brain health among Canadian Armed Forces Veterans who have experienced sexual misconduct during military service
